Gail A. Johnson, 59 of Galesburg, Illinois, died at 11:30 P.M. Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Marigold Rehab and Health Care Center, Galesburg, Illinois.
Gail was born on July 28, 1956 to Robert and Jane Bailey Johnson of Galesburg, Illinois. Gail was raised and educated in and around Knox County. She attended St. Joe’s elementary school, while attending Costa Jr. High she was a cheerleader, and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1974.
Gail spent her teen years playing sports, volunteering as a Candy Stripe at Cottage Hospital and babysitting her younger cousins.
Gail married Richard Carr Jr. in 1976 and they have one son Richard Carr III, and four grandchildren, Richard Carr IV, Jazielle Mahnesmith, Morgan Cole, and Jericco Carr.
Richard and Gail divorced and she later married Larry Johnson.
Gail was employed at several businesses in Galesburg to include Family Video, Go Van Go, and the Galesburg Regional Airport.
Gail while accompanied by her family and beloved dog Thumper engaged in fishing, camping, hunting, and just being outdoors.
Sadly after a hard battle she lost her fight with cancer. She left us December 26, 2015.
Gail is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Jane Johnson, one sister, Millie Ann Hasselback, and her husband, Larry Johnson.
Gail leaves behind a son, Richard Carr III; four grandchildren, Richard Carr IV, Jazielle Mahnesmith, Morgan Cole, and Jericco Carr; a step-son, Rick E. Johnson; three step-grandchildren, Quenton Johnson, Olivia Johnson, and Ella Johnson; one sister, Diana Noweel of England; two brothers, Rick Johnson of Maquon, Illinois and Terry Asbury of Kinsylville California; and several uncles, aunts, cousins, friends, and Thumper.
