Mr. Charles A. Cooley II, 64 of Dahinda, Illinois died 3:16 p.m. Monday July 23, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Illinois. He was born June 18, 1954 in Galesburg, Illinois to Charles O. and Doris Peterson Cooley. He married Karen Lynn Ekin September 6, 1975 in Mattoon, Illinois. She survives.
Also surviving is his mother, Doris Cooley of Knoxville, Illinois, his son, Adam (and Danielle) Cooley of LeRoy, Illinois, his daughter, Stephanie (and Andy) Rittgers of Cottleville, Missouri, his brother, Keith (and Teresa) Cooley of Wyoming, Illinois, his sister, Sharon (and Terry) Farquer of Dahinda and his five grandchildren, Alana and Eden Rittgers, Chase, Addison and Tessa Cooley. He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Nancy Stephens.
Most recently, Charlie was a realtor, farm manager and an insurance agent. He owned and operated Cooleyii since 2000 and Godsil Insurance Company in Knoxville since 2010. Prior to self-employment, Charlie worked in the farm and trust department for several banks, including Wells Fargo and First National Bank of Springfield. He graduated from Williamsfield in 1972. He attended Carl Sandburg College and graduated from Illinois State University in 1976. He was a member of the Dahinda United Methodist Church, the American Society of Farm Management and Rural Appraisers and the Capital Realtor Association. Charlie enjoyed fishing, golfing and basketball. Some of his fondest memories revolved around coaching various sports, especially basketball. He was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and an Illini fan. He also enjoyed spending quality time with Karen traveling throughout the states and abroad.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2018 at Dahinda United Methodist Church. Rev. Jennifer Seder will officiate. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg.
