At least two of three area radio stations based in Monmouth have been sold.
Documents filed with the Federal Communications Commission and reported on by broadcast industry trade publications indicate radio stations WRAM and WMOI have been sold to a group of investors led by the president and CEO of the stations, Vanessa Wetterling.
The other investors, documents indicate, are Monmouth-based Robbins-Treat Resources, LLC — owners of Robbins Resource Management in Monmouth. The company’s website indicates that among other things, they re a provider of pallets and lumber.
The seller — WPW Broadcasting — is getting $168,000 for the two stations — plus another $45,000 for real estate.
WPW — known publicly as Prairie Radio Communications — also owns Galesburg Radio station WAIK. That station was not included in the sale, but sources say that station is on the market as well.
WPW has slowly sold off other radio stations it owns in the Midwest over the last several years.
(NOTE: WGIL, along with radio stations WAAG FM 95, WLSR 92.7 FM The Laser, and WKAY 105.3 KFM, are owned by Galesburg Broadcasting Company, and are in no way affiliated with WAIK, WRAM, and WMOI.)
