Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 31-year-old Clarence Jennings pleaded guilty Thursday to a Class-Two felony count of Indecent Solicitation of a Child. In exchange for the plea, a Class-Three Solicitation charge, and a misdemeanor count of Sexual Exploitation of a Child are being dismissed.
Jennings was arrested in July. Prosecutors say around June 15th, as he was having sexual contact with an adult, he spotted a 15 year old girl and tried to talk her into joining them.
Police officials say a few weeks prior, Jennings also offered the girl drugs and instructed her on how to use them.
Despite Jennings’ claims of being schizophrenic, he was found mentally fit to stand trial not long after his arrest.
A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered. A sentencing hearing is set for March 27th. Jennings could face as much as seven years in prison.
