Galesburg Police responded to Rail City Saloon just after 2 a.m. on Sunday to a report of a gun shot victim.
Once on scene, police told those present to put their hands up with most filing out of the bar in an orderly fashion. No weapons were located inside the bar.
Officers located a 21-year old man sitting in the corner of the bar with both his shoe and sock taken off his foot.
Police noted bullet fragments on the inside of the victim’s foot. Medical attention was requested to transport the victim to Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
Interviews conducted at the scene all describe similar events with multiple witnesses describing between two and three shots being fired.
Witness accounts also describe a black male holding a handgun when a fight was ongoing at the bar.
Investigators located two shell casings outside the bar. Once the victim was relocated to the hospital, he described walking to his car to avoid a fight he was not involved in when his foot began hurting.
No arrests have been made, but the perpetrator is wanted on charges of aggravated battery involving a firearm and aggravated discharge of a firearm in an occupied building.
