United Way Board President Annette Pickrel said at the agency’s annual meeting Friday that the 2013-2014 campaign is officially now closed, and while final totals have not yet been figured, as of Wednesday, the campaign was at 87-percent of its 375-thousand dollar goal.
Pickrel tells WGIL there was a lot of good to come out of the campaign nonetheless, in that a lot of new people were reached.
“A lot of Facebook, a lot of e-mails through Constant Contact, we also had a lot of new board members and we asked everyone to ask everyone to join us and contact new people and ask them to donate or volunteer,” says Pickrel.
Pickrel says she feels some Galesburg residents who work out of town likely indicated at work they’d give to the United Way, but never indicated that they wanted their money to come back to Knox County.
Nevertheless, Pickrel says the allocation process involving the over two-dozen partner agencies will soon begin.
