Here’s your local sports schedule for tonight.
Regional play begins tonight for the class 1A and 2A girls basketball teams in Illinois. In our area, the ROWVA Tigers will play the Ridgewood Lady Spartans tonight at Wethersfield High School in class 1A. And in Farmington, the Monmouth-Roseville Titans will meet the United Red Storm in class 2A action.
Abingdon-Avon and Knoxville both received first-round byes, and will play their regional openers tomorrow night.
Here in Galesburg, the Silver Streaks girls are set to finally get their game with Moline played that was originally scheduled for January 23rd. The game was postponed again last week, but it looks like they will be able to play tonight, with pregame coverage beginning at about 6:40 here on WGIL.

In other basketball at GHS tonight, the Silver Streaks freshmen boys will host Alleman at 6pm.
Monmouth College basketball player Marla Willard has been named as the Midwest Conference women’s player of the week. Willard had 13 points in a win over Illinois College, then posted a season-high 26 points and 14 rebounds in Saturday’s victory over Ripon. The Monmouth women and men will play host to rival Knox College tomorrow night.
Galesburg High School wrestler Christian Powers will be taking part in the sectional tournament this weekend, after winning the 170-lb class at the Geneseo Regional on Saturday. Powers defeated Scott Schulte of Geneseo in the finals with a pin at the 3:33 mark. Geneseo easily took the team title.
Elsewhere, a host of wrestlers from the Monmouth-Roseville squad will take part in this weekend’s Olympia Sectional, after the Titans placed second at the regional meet on Saturday at Peoria Heights.
