John E. Babcock, 77 of Roseville, IL passed away Sunday February 9, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Peoria, IL. He was born September 10, 1936 in Elizabeth, IN the son of William and Louetta Babcock. He Married Betty Davis on June 28, 1958, she preceded him on May 28, 2012.
He is survived by one daughter Rebecca (Mike) Pepper of Macomb, IL; a special friend Patty Bern of Roseville, IL; several nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, 1 sister , and 2 brothers.
He worked for Yale Lock Company, was the manager of Standard Oil, fertilizer dept. He owned and operated the Roseville Bowling Alley for several years. He worked at Farmers Grain in Roseville, IL. He owned and operated Babcock’s Fruit Farm for many years, where He loved giving tours to school children and visiting with customers. He retired and moved to Swan Creek. He was a member of the Roseville Fire Department in his younger years, and later a member of the Swan Creek Fire Department. He was a member of the Swan Creek United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved to give to the Community.
Funeral service will be Friday February 14, 2014, 11:00 am at Corman Memorial Home Roseville, IL. Family will receive friends Thursday eve February 13, 2014 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Corman’s, Roseville, IL. Burial will be in the Roseville Township Cemetery.
