Knox and Monmouth will meet for the second and final time this season in college basketball tonight. The Fighting Scots won the first matchups in men’s and women’s play, and will be looking for a season sweep on their homecourt. For the men, it’s hardly a clash of titans, as the two teams have combined to lose 26 consecutive games. The Fire have dropped 17 in a row, while the Scots have lost 9-straight after a promising 4-and-2 start in conference play. The women’s matchup, which will be the 7:30 game, features a Monmouth team on the verge of making the playoffs, against a Fire team that has been playing its best ball of the season.
High school girl’s regionals will continue tonight, with semifinal games on the schedule at most locations. In class 2A action at Farmington, the hosts will play top-seed Peoria Christian, and then Knoxville battles Monmouth-Roseville. In class 1A play at Lewistown, the hosts meet North Fulton, followed by Abingdon-Avon against West Prairie. The Ridgewood Spartans will wait until tomorrow night for their 1A semifinal showdown with Stark County at Wethersfield.
The Tuesday night schedule for boys small-school hoops couldn’t be any busier, with all of the area teams in action. The lineup includes:
Farmington at Knoxville
Monmouth-Roseville at Canton
Lewistown at Abingdon-Avon
ROWVA at West Central
Princeville at United
Ridgewood at Stark County
Brimfield at Williamsfield
The Galesburg boys are off until Friday night, when they will travel to Quincy.
