Mera Elaine Norville, age 82 of Galesburg, died at 1:20 am Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.
She was born on September 10, 1931 in Galesburg, the daughter of Everett and Rita (Hummel) Fengel. She married Kenneth E. Norville in Galesburg. He preceded her in death on May 16, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her stepfather, William Reed
Mera is survived by two sons, Nick (and Sharon) of Longmont, Colorado and Kevin of Glasford; one daughter, Shawna of Galesburg; several grandchildren; and one brother, Doc (and Loretta) Fengel of Abingdon.
She graduated from Abingdon High School in 1949 and was a member of the AHS Half Century Alumni. She worked at Briggs Manufacturing in Abingdon, Galesburg Cottage Hospital and she retired from Butler Manufacturing in Galesburg after 31 years of loyal service.
Mera enjoyed reading and she looked forward to meeting her friends at Club every Monday for lunch. She also enjoyed the time she spent with her loving dog and good buddy, Shorty.
Graveside service for Mera and Ken will be held at 11:30 am Saturday, February 15, 2014 at the Abingdon Cemetery. Mrs. Eleanor Landon will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
