Pedigo, Franklin Raymond “Ray”

Franklin Raymond “Ray” Pedigo 81, of Lake Bracken, died at 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at home.
He was born March 21, 1932 in Galesburg the son of Russell and Iva (Maxwell) Pedigo. He married Donna J. Akright on May 3, 1952 in Monmouth.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; four children, Rhonda (and Gary) Vilardo of N.C., Marc (and Barbara) Pedigo of Fla., Michelle (and Billy) Wright of N.C., and Michael (and Lorie) Pedigo of Galesburg; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and two sisters, Jeanette of Galesburg and Vicky of Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Russell, Edward, and Lester; and sister, Louise.
Ray graduated from Galesburg High School. While in high school, he was a member of the 1948 Galesburg Silver Streaks baseball team, the team’s only undefeated season. After serving in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the Leonard F. Mason Destroyer, he served his five year plumber’s apprenticeship. Ray worked as a journeyman plumber for over 35 years. He worked over the years for Holt Plumbing, Thomas Plumbing and Heating, and MSI.
Ray and Donna enjoyed travelling with their RV, wintering in Florida for nine years. Ray was an avid golfer. He and Donna moved to Lake Bracken in 1972. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 25 in Rock Island.
Cremation will be accorded. Celebration of life will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at the Lake Bracken Club House. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Knox County Humane Society. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Services of Galesburg is handling arrangements.
