Fansler, Sara Pauline

Sara Pauline “Polly” Fansler, 86, of Galesburg, died at 11:48 a.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Marigold Health Care Center.

She was born September 30, 1927 in Stronghurst, the daughter of Edwin and Lois (McClay) Wisely. She married Fred Avery Fansler October 25, 1947 in Altona. He preceded her in death July 24, 1988.

She is survived by her children, Daryl (and Debra) Fansler of East Alton, Doris (and Steve) Medhurst of Galesburg, Derwin Fansler of Pfleugerville, Texas, Diana (and Al) Lerma of New Boston, and Darla (and Brian) Davison of Wataga; nine grandchildren, Meg Fansler, Sara (and Jason) Fritzel, Amanda Medhurst, Stephanie (and Chris) Ritcher, Daniel Fansler, Kyle Green, Danise Vroman, Caleb Vroman, and Jessica Davison; two great grandchildren, Amelie Fritzel and Draven Green; a sister-in-law, Judy Wisely of Colchester; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and one sister.

After graduating from high school, Polly was a bookkeeper for several businesses in Galesburg, including Chamber of Commerce, Wenzelmann Manufacturing, HIA Insurance, Knox County Farm Bureau, and the gift shop at Jumer’s. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years, a member of Church Women United, and a member of Faith United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Galesburg Mother of Twins Club, OAKS, and the PTAs of Lombard and Douglas schools.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2014 at Faith United Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Newhall will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist Church.
