Rost, Darryl G.

Darryl G. Rost, 67, of Kirkwood, passed away at 2:55 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, IL.

He was born on January 19, 1947 in Hannibal, MO and is the son of Walter Glenn and Ruth Ann (Keith) Rost. He was raised and educated in Hannibal.

Darryl married Suzanne Marie Smith, he later married Donna Houghton on March 25, 1989 in Hannibal, and she survives.

Darryl worked as an auto body technician for many years. He worked a Lackey Auto Body in Palmyra, MO; he later worked at Wyatt’s Body and Frame in Burlington, Ia. Most recently he worked at U.S.A Rental and Peoples-Do-It Center in Monmouth.

Darryl enjoyed fishing, golfing, outside activities, BBQ, and his dogs; Chyann “Chy” and Big Dog. Darryl played music from a young age and played in several bands through the years. He was an excellent drummer and quite a showman. Music was always a huge part of his life. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Darryl is survived by his wife Donna Rost of Kirkwood, his children; Terri Sanders (Scott) of Hannibal, MO, Sherri Gonda (Chuck) of Monroe City, MO, Tony Rost (Dana) of Monroe City, MO, Kim Davis of Monroe City, MO, Keri Anderson (Mitch) of Denver, CO, Keli Huckaby (Dustin) of Monmouth, and Joshua Rost of Kirkwood. Darryl has Nine grandchildren; Cory, Tasha, Sam, Jeremy, Hannah, Alison, Kaylee, Austin, and Dawson, Seven great grandchildren; Bode, Shaylyn, Dustilyn, SJ, Jason, Bella, and unborn baby. Also surviving is his sister Gail Maddox (Paul) of Hannibal, MO, half-sister Shadye Mae, special family Casey, Lisa, Katelynn, and James Reynolds all of Kirkwood, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A gathering of family and friends will be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
