Galesburg Silver StreaksThe Galesbug Silver Streaks Basketball Teams did not fare well last night. The Streaks girls did not give up without a fight, however, losing to Geneseo in the Class 3A Regional Championship 34-30 in overtime. The Streaks led most of the game until Geneseo tied it up close to the end of regulation.

Sabrina Clay — named today to the All-Western Big 6 Conference Girls Team, led the Streaks with 13 points. The season is over for the Streaks girls. The Maple Leafs move on to the Chillicothe IVC Sectional Monday night, taking on Washington.

Shayli Florine was the other Streaks girl to make all-conference.

The Silver Streaks boys lost in Western Big 6 Conference Play last night to Rock Island, 74-64. Rock Island won their 14th consecutive Western Big 6 conference game. Grant Gibson led the Streaks with 23 points. The Streaks boys are back in action tonight taking on Chillicothe IVC at home. You can hear the broadcast starting at 7:10 p-m on WGIL.

Rock Island’s sophomores also beat the Streaks 64-58.

HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING

The State Wrestling Tournament continues today in Champaign. Monmouth-Roseville Senior Justin Kinney bowed out yesterday, losing to Dakota’s Printice Walls in the 120 pound weight class. The Titans’ Dalton Willett and Logan Millizer continue on today in their respective weight classes.

The Western Big 6 Conference All-Wrestling Team was announced today; however, no Galesburg players were honored in top spots. However, the Streaks’ Ricky Cantu picked up an Honorable Mention honor.
