Regional tournament play continues tonight around the area in boys high school basketball. At Abingdon, the host A-Town Tornados will meet Bushnell-Prairie City in the first of two games tonight. That will be followed by the ROWVA Tigers against the Galva Wildcats. There will also be two games played in Toulon, where North Fulton plays Illini Bluffs in the opener, followed by the Williamsfield Bombers against Princeville. One game is scheduled at the class 2A Macomb Regional, where top-seed Monmouth-Roseville meets Farmington.
Last night, Knoxville topped West Central 68-45, as Tyler Houston and Noah Hummel combined to score 51 points and grab 20 rebounds for the Blue Bullets. They’ll play Macomb tomorrow night on the Bombers home floor.
Ridgewood also won last night at Abingdon, as the Spartans defeated West Prairie 48-39. Sam Althaus had 20 points for Ridgewood, which will play top-seed Wethersfield tomorrow night.
The Lincoln Trail Conference has announced it’s all-conference girls basketball players for this season. The first-team list includes Jasmine Jefko of Ridgewood and Mikalyn Bent of ROWVA. Second-team honors were earned by Morgan Green of Ridgewood. And honorable mentions went to Emma Johnson of ROWVA, Katie Miller of Ridgewood, and Callie Brunswig of United. Conference champion and final-four qualifier Annawan had three first-team and three second-team selections.
Both Carl Sandburg College basketball teams will start Region 4 Tournament play on Thursday. The Chargers women will host Elgin at 6pm, while the CSC men will travel to Lake County for a 7:15 game.
