Annual Film Festival Readies for Three Days of Great Films

WGIL Newsroom . Local News 324

Film lovers have the opportunity to share their passion with other film lovers starting Thursday evening.

The 10th annual Black Earth Film Festival offers viewers a variety of films to enjoy from animation to documentary.

Galesburg Civic Art Center Director Heather Norman tells the WGIL Evening News the festival has once again undergone some positive changes.

“We moved it from Carl Sandburg College Theatre in the fall to Cherry Street Restaurant and Bar in the winter, really this winter you do need something to do and you need to get out,” says Norman. “We also thought that if you could eat and drink while you were watching the films, that would be nice too.”

Norman says the festival starts with nine different films showcasing a different number of topics.

On Friday four films will be shown, but audience members will have to chance to speak with two of the filmmakers.

The festival starts at 6:30 every night and costs $5 to attend each showcase.
