John C. Thompson, 78, of Galesburg, died at 10:22 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Marigold Health Care Center.

He was born March 25, 1935 in Monmouth, Ill. the son of Harry C. and Nellie Kathryn (Simpson) Thompson. He married Helen E. Killeen on September 7, 1963 in Galesburg. She preceded him in death on August 10, 1998.

Glen E. Brahmstedt, 77, of Galesburg, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2014, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital, Galesburg.

Graveside services will be at 12:00 noon Saturday at Alexis, Cemetery with Rev. Terry Johnston. Family will be present from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 A.M. Saturday at Hoover- Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis, Illinois.

#15 Iowa Weathers Illini Comeback for Win

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Gabriel Olaseni had 15 points and 12 rebounds and No. 15 Iowa overcame Illinois’ furious comeback to pull out an 81-74 victory Saturday night.

The Hawkeyes (17-5, 6-3 Big Ten) led by 21 points just over 12 minutes into the game and were battering the Illini with their bench and Big Ten-best rebounding.

State Senator Kirk Dillard is joined by State Rep. Don Moffitt during a campaign stop Saturday at Spudo's in Galesburg.

A Republican candidate for Governor in the March primary election says he wants to help Galesburg and the state build on some of its important strengths if elected.

State Senator Kirk Dillard campaigned in town Saturday despite the snow, speaking to a small group gathered at Spudo’s on North Henderson Street.
