Barlow, Richard L.

Richard L. “Dick” Barlow, 73, of Galesburg went to his Savior in Heaven at 3:03 pm Saturday, March 1, 2014 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

He was born June 24, 1940 in Galesburg the son of Ivan and Margaret A. Clark Barlow. He married the love of his life, Lorinda J. Markham in Galesburg. They were together for over 59 years. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Lynn (Lueann) Barlow of Black Mountain, NC, Mark (Marsha) Barlow and Duane Barlow; his daughter, Dawn Barlow all of Galesburg, Ill.; three sisters, Barbara (Wayne) Dennis of Galesburg, Sharon (Gary) Bachman of East Peoria, Ill., Donna (Jeff) Duckwiller of Galesburg, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Bryan, Jessica, Richard, Jacob, Jordan, Preston, and Brody Barlow and two great grandsons, Josiah and Lelynn Barlow.

He served in the US Army.

Dick was co-owner and operator with his wife, of Grandview Restaurant for 19 years, retiring in 2000. He also had worked for Burlington Northern Railroad for over 25 years. He graduated from Galesburg High School in 1959. He was baptized of the Catholic faith and later reaffirmed his baptized non-denominational faith.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2 pm Saturday, March 8, 2014 in Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Don Reynolds will officiate. Visitation will be from Noon-1:30 pm Saturday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be made to Heartland Health Care Center Activity Fund.
