Just over $3.3 million was budgeted for the project, but that amount was increased by $100,000 due to a grant the District received.
During yesterday’s meeting, committee members agreed to accept a bid that was 14-thousand dollars under budget.
Part of the work includes some masonry repairs along the roof which the District thought initially could be completed further down the line.
Russell Construction Project Engineer Tim Corcoran says the bids were extremely close.
“It does bring the auditorium into play for getting that done,” Corcoran said. “I think having those done now with the roofers at the same time will be a big benefit for the long-term needs of that facility. We’ve been moving forward with that, trying to make sure we can fit that into the budget.”
In addition to the bid package, the committee members expressed interest in using thicker roofing material.
The matter will now be considered by the full Board of Education next week.
