A decision to change maintenance facilities was tabled during a Galesburg School District committee meeting, yesterday.
The District’s Building Committee has toured three separate facilities over the past several months.
A recommendation to begin seeking prices on a facility in the 1900 block of Lincoln street was proposed.
The district is currently anticipating $500,000 in costs to renovate its existing structure at Hawthorne Center. To move buildings, the price would need to be lower than the renovation costs.
Board President Tom Colclasure says some sort of action needed to be taken in the near future.
“We don’t have, necessarily, the solid costs yet,” Coclasure said. “From what we saw, anybody who’s toured where we’re at right now, that place is not acceptable, and we definitely need to do something.”
Building Committee members, yesterday concluded that they would be unable to make a decision without a firm offer from the seller.
