McKee, Ronald L., Sr.

Ronald L. “Mac” McKee, Sr., 72, of Abingdon, died at 10:45 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 in Unity Point Health Methodist Hospital, Peoria.

He was born October 18, 1941 in Galesburg, the son of Arthur E. and Ruby (Huggins) McKee. He married Jessica R. Parlier in Galesburg.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica McKee of Abingdon; 10 children, Rhonda L. Massey of Burlington, Iowa; Ronald L. McKee Jr., Richard W. McKee, Randall D. McKee, Donna L. Grubb, Arthur T. McKee, and Brandy N. Poole, all of Galesburg, Edwin E. McKee of Mt. Morris, Ill., Diana L. McKee of Wataga, and Michael D. Weinberg of Chicago; 15 grandchildren, David Stratton, Shari Gold, Amy Britt, Jackie Sportsman, Jay McKee, Drew McKee, Hunter McKee, Madison McKee, Keryn Reed, Brittany Reed, Rachele Brady, Bradley Ackman, Courtney Ackman, Cody Hillier, and Mackenzie Chaney; 13 great grandchildren; and a brother, Robert E. McKee of Spring Valley, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Shirley Bean.

Mac worked for the C.B.&Q., then Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 43 years in various capacities. He retired in 2002. He was currently working as a driver for Renzenberger Transport. He was of Christian faith. Mac was a fan of the Packers, Cardinals, and NASCAR. He enjoyed collecting Native American and Western items, fishing, and was a prankster.

Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Don Reynolds officiating.
