WGIL Newsroom . Local News 368

After almost 13 years of service with the Galesburg Civic Art Center, Executive Director Heather Norman is stepping down. Norman is credited for giving the Art Center a second life with the expansion of their gallery, addition of a gift shop and a creating a number of programs for the center.
She says finding a new job was not preplanned, but in the back of her mind she thought now was a good time to explore new avenues.
Norman tells WGIL making the decision to leave is extremely bitter sweet.

“A little piece of my heart and soul will always be in this building so, um, and there’s no way around that. I’ve left a piece of myself here, and I’m proud that I was able to do that and.  So it is very hard you know to look at everything you’ve accomplished and say okay it’s kinda time to move on.”

Norman says her new job with Tri States Public Radio will keep her in Galesburg and Norman plans on popping into the Art Center from time to time.
