The days are staying the same, but visitation times for the Knox County Jail are slightly shifting.
A decision was made to change Sunday visitation hours from between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Knox County Sheriff David Clague tells WGIL the change will not be seen by inmates or visitors, but will have a direct impact on jail personnel.
“The past, on Sundays, the shift change occurred right in the middle of visiting and it just created a little time problem there so by having the new visiting hours from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, it’s going to be the first shift only and everything should be just as smooth then as what is has been in the past,” says Clague.
Clague says the change is designed to reduce the pressure and stress of jail staff during visiting hours.
He says now first shift will end at the same time of Sunday visiting hours, making it easier for second shift to start right up.
Thursday hours will remain from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
