Here’s a look at sports from around the area.

Boys Basketball

It will be Galesburg against Dunlap for the Geneseo Regional tournament title tomorrow night. Dunlap advanced to the championship game with a 57-41 victory over Canton last night in Geneseo, setting up a third meeting with the Silver Streaks this season. GHS head coach Mike Reynolds says Dunlap has a good big man in 6-foot, 8-inch center Alex Sorenson, but they’re also good at other spots on the court as well.

Broadcast time for tomorrow night’s showdown in Geneseo is 6:40, with a 7 o’clock tipoff here on WGIL.

The Western Big-6 Conference still has four teams alive and competing for regional titles this week. In addition to Galesburg, the Quincy Blue Devils will play for a championship after upending Alton last night. And in Rock Island, the host Rocks will play fellow Western Big-6 rival United Township for the trophy of the class 4A regional there.

In class 2A, the season is over for the Monmouth-Roseville Titans, after they fell to top-ranked Rockridge last night 76-51. The Titans finished the year with a mark of 22-5, while undefeated Rockridge moves on to the Sectional final against Bloomington Central Catholic.

College Basketball

Senior forward Marla Willard from Monmouth College has been selected for the first team All-Midwest Conference women’s basketball team. Willard led Monmouth as they finished second at last weekend’s conference tournament, falling to St. Norbert in the league championship game. Aside from Willard, there were no members of the Monmouth and Knox men’s or women’s basketball teams anywhere on the All-Conference roster for this season.
