Denzil C. Thuline 81, of Altona, Illinois passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois.
Denzil was born June 28, 1932 in rural Altona, Illinois, the son of Walter Thuline and Vina Ritthaller. He attended the Altona school district and graduated from ROVA High School. He married Barbara Cannon on April 17, 1954 in Maquon, Illinois.
Denzil is survived by his wife; Barbara Thuline of Altona, Illinois, daughter; Dixie (Bill) Burress of Iowa, son; Jack Thuline of Arizona, two grandsons; Nathan (Ashley) and Lee; two sisters; Rosalie Rittenhouse of Galva, Danita (Bud) Benson of Oregon, two brothers-in-law; Clint (Marilyn) Cannon and Jim (Slerry) Cannon. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He started working as an electrician for Bud Swanson and later worked for Maxwell EKC Hasken for over 35 years. Denzil enjoyed playing music with his friends and tinkering with anything mechanical. He was the go to guy when you needed something fixed. He will always be remembered for his smile, corny jokes, and plaid shirts.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home in Oneida, Illinois. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 A.M. Rev. David Pyell will be officiating. Memorial donations may be left to the Altona Ambulance or Altona Fire Department. The Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home is assisting the family.
