Here’s a look at today’s sports schedule.
The first-round opponent for the Carl Sandburg Chargers at next week’s national tournament was announced this morning. The Chargers will face second-seeded Wayne County, Michigan in a 9am start next Tuesday, March 18th. Tournament officials seeded the top eight teams, and then filled in the rest of the field in a blind draw. Wayne County, like Carl Sandburg, is making its’ first-ever appearance at the NJCAA National Tournament. A win in the opening game of the double-elimination tournament would have Sandburg playing next Wednesday night at 6:30, while a loss would have them playing the 3pm game the following day. Sandburg, which won the Region IV Tournament title last week, knocked off three of the top four seeds to advance to next week’s tournament in Danville, IL.
