The future of the City of Galesburg’s current Economic Development Department may be uncertain, but the department that exists now is moving on, and will soon be hosting a workshop designed to get local businesses working with big machinery.
The City’s Economic Development Department says that it’s hosting what they call a “Supply Chain Matchmaking Workshop” on machinery March 26th.
City Global Strategies DIrector Gary Camarano says in a press release says the goal will be to present area businesses the potential for new relationships.
The city is bringing in mobile machine manufacturers Kress Corporation out of Brimfield, and Astec Mobile Screens of Sterling.
Kress makes mining and materials-handling equipment, while Astec works with such companies.
Camarano says the two have expressed interest in, quote, “establishing a quality, local supply chain” and they’re hoping to meet with interested local businesses.
The workshops will be held at the Carl Sandburg College Business and Technology March 26th from 10:30 a-m until 1 p-m. Anyone interested in attending is asked to call Camarano’s office.
