Quinn stopped at a construction site Wednesday morning to thank labor unions and talk about a rebounding economy. The visit followed his Tuesday evening Democratic nomination for re-election and Rauner’s win in a field of four GOP candidates.
Quinn’s first campaign commercial began airing Tuesday and focuses on Rauner’s stance on minimum wage. Quinn wants to raise Illinois’ $8.25 rate to at least $10. Rauner has said he’d lower it and later said he’d be in favor of raising under certain circumstances.
Quinn said he’d advocate for working people and then played up Rauner’s wealth. Rauner is a venture capitalist who put millions into his campaign.
Rauner says Quinn is failing Illinois.
