Norman T. Theesfeld, 87, of rural Monmouth for the past 2 and a half years, formerly of Galva, died at 2:15 PM, Friday, February 7, 2014 at his home Cremation has been accorded and a graveside memorial service will held at 10:30 AM, Monday, March 31 at Galva Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by the Galva Fusiliers. Memorials may be directed to the Grace United Methodist Church in Galva. Rux Funeral Home in Galva is in charge of arrangements.

He was born January 20, 1927 in Altona, the son of Henry and Nola (McClure) Theesfeld. He married Evelyn Sandberg on October 19, 1951 and she preceded him in death on November 19, 2006. Survivors include his children, Phil (Sandy) Theesfeld of Branson, MO, Peggy Gooch of Monmouth, IL, Jim Theesfeld of Moline and Jamie Theesfeld of Galva, four granchildren, Joe (Nicole) Theesfeld of Iowa City, IA, Jenna (Lou) Gonzales of Davenport, IA, Kraig Theesfeld of Kewanee and Kylie Jo (Doug) Mitchell of Moline, two great grandchildren, Rylan and Paisley Gonzales, four siblings, Jean Theesfeld of Galesburg, Patty Anderson of Wisconsin, Betty (Merle) Baldwin of Galesburg and Dale (Marilyn) Theesfeld of South Carolina and a brother-in-law, Art Sandberg of Galva. He also leaves behind his dedicated cocker spaniel, Jasmine. He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Alan and Larry Theesfeld, three sisters, Lois Theesfeld, Virginia Wyman and Dorothy Hilton, a grandson, Jeffrey Theesfeld and a son-in-law, Marshall Gooch.

Norman attended Galva schools. He served his country in the US Navy. He had worked at the Galva Foundry for over 40 years. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Galva and a longtime member of the Galva American Legion Post 45.
