Taylor, Roger Lee

Roger Lee Taylor, 64, of Galesburg died at 4 pm Monday, March 24, 2014 at his home.

He was born January 14, 1950 in Galesburg the son of Fred and Doris Derry Taylor. He married Janet Rutledge on July 20, 1974 in Knoxville, Ill. She survives.

Also surviving are his two sons, Dustin (Angela) Taylor and Trent (Randi) Taylor both of Galesburg; three brothers, Larry (Ann) Taylor of Galesburg, Mike (Mary) Taylor of Abingdon and Pat Taylor of Berwick, Ill. and his granddaughter, Alexis Taylor. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Roger first worked for Gates Rubber Company for over 11 years, from 1969-1980. He then served as a police officer for the City of Galesburg for 21 years, retiring in 2001. After his retirement he worked for Brinks Security for 10 years. He graduated from Roseville High School in 1969 and received a certificate in law enforcement from Carl Sandburg College. He was raised in the Abingdon and Berwick area and was of the Baptist Faith. Roger was the owner of the West Central Illinois Karting from 1996 until his death. He was a former member of the Galesburg Bass Masters.

A Memorial Visitation will be from 10:00-Noon, Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. As per Rogers wishes, cremation will be accorded. Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or Knox County Humane Society. Online condolences may be offered at www.h-p-w.com
