An economic development report is still in need of discussion by the Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association.
The report was developed with the aid of an economic development task force at the City of Galesburg.
It’s recommendations included eliminating both the City’s Economic Development department and GREDA in favor of a new public-private partnership.
The City of Galesburg is awaiting a response by GREDA on a possible course of action going forward.
GREDA President Leo Dion, however, tells WGIL the Board is detailing with the details.
“Some of them, the way that they’re currently situated are probably fine, there’s others that need to be flushed out a bit.”
An ad hoc committee will be appointed shortly to work with both the City of Galesburg and Knox County.
Area businesses investing in GREDA have been fairly supportive of the process according to Dion.
