The Knox Prairie Fire baseball team upped its season record to 9-and-4 with a doubleheader sweep of Beloit yesterday. The Fire won by scores of 9-8 and 15-9. Knox also won a pair of games on Saturday over Robert Morris of Springfield 19-1 and 19-2. Knox outfielder Erik Smoy had a big weekend at the plate, going 11-for-19 with a home run and 14 runs-batted-in. He also stole six bases. Smoy’s numbers were enough to win him the Midwest Conference Performer of the Week award for baseball. Knox is off until Saturday when they are scheduled to host a pair of games against Cornell College.

The Galesburg Silver Streaks are playing host to Geneseo for varsity and sophomore games today. The varsity game will be played on the Eastside field on the GHS campus, with the sophomore game has been moved to Carl Sandburg College. Both games will begin at 4:30. In softball, the Galesburg girls will travel to Dunlap. The Streaks are coming off of a doubleheader sweep over Richwoods on Saturday. In other are softball matchups:
