In an effort to celebrate a 100 years of rotary in Galesburg, the local rotary clubs wanted to enhance Rotary Park.
For three years, local rotary clubs planned and waited for funds to become available.
The waiting is finally over after the state announced Knox County will receive more than $300-thousand for Rotary Park. City Treasurer and former Noon Rotary Club President Marvin Dahlberg tells WGIL the redevelopment of the park will help enhance the community.
“We’re putting in a walking trail, restrooms, an ice skating rink which we don’t have one in the community right now, we’re enhancing the parking, putting in a second baseball field, there’s going to be a garden, a water garden,” says Dahlberg.
Dahlberg says they’re looking at starting construction late summer, early fall.
He says they’re hoping to have a completed park by the spring of 2015.
