The Civic Center Authority Board formed a fundraising committee in an effort to create revenue generating ideas. Orpheum Theatre Executive Director Kevin Maynard says the $150-thousand debt is a big issue and it’s the fundraising committee’s primary focus.
But Maynard tells WGIL the situation has prompted the Orpheum to change the way they operate.
“Booking shows that our financially viable in the market with the amount of attendance that we’re getting and additionally, we have completely restructured our costs looked at our costs to make sure that we’re spending our money in a financially responsible manner,” says Maynard.
At this time, Maynard says the committee is still formulating ideas and nothing has been decided.
He does say one fundraising opportunity will come at the end of next season’s Red Carpet Series, but Maynard says that will become more clear when the series is officially announced.
