Knox County Zoning Administrator Chris Gray told the Knox County Board’s Highway Committee that in the last several months, comments have been made claiming the Knox County Zoning Board of Appeals has ” a reputation for not working with businesses who want to come into our county or grow in our county.”
Gray says those comments prompted her to go back and research the matter, and she tells WGIL she went back to 2006 found the ZBA approved several appeals and they fully support the business community.
“We are, I feel we’re business-friendly, I mean, we’re letting people come that come before the Zoning Board of Appeals,” says Gray.
Gray says over those seven years, 37 businesses, either already established or new, came through the Zoning Board of Appeals.
She says out of those 37, two decided not to move forward and two requests were denied for what she says were legitimate reasons.
Overall, Gray says 33 businesses had their request approved from the Zoning Board of Appeals.
