Jean Marie Johnson, 88, of Galesburg, died at 1:25 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Heartland Health Care Center.
She was born March 5, 1926 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital, the daughter of Hjalmar and Thelma (Wilfong) Weinberg. She married Marvin Johnson on April 12, 1946 in Knoxville, Ill.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Marvin; three sons, David L. Johnson of Decatur, Ill., Alan D. (and wife Lillian) of Minneapolis, Minn., and Clark E. (and wife Vivian) of Los Angeles, Calif.; a daughter, Patty L. (and husband Greg Gallant) Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and three brothers.
Jean was a dedicated mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and being with her family. She graduated from Galesburg High School in 1944. Jean was a member of the Covenant Church. She had lived in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, and Oklahoma.
Graveside service will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 14, 2014 at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com.
