Larson, Jack D.

Jack D. Larson, age 84, of Knoxville died on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at his home in Knoxville, Illinois.

He was born on December 21, 1929 in Aitkin, Minnesota, the son of Albert and Irene Davis Larson. He married Sharon Bankston on April 3, 1965 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Surviving is his wife, Sharon of Knoxville, Illinois; his children: Michael (Pat) Larson of Dayton, Ohio, Jackie (Steve) Carter of Dayton, Ohio, and David (Laurel) Larson of Fairfield, California.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Quinn Larson,  Kurt (Amanda) Larson, Janelle (Chris) DeLaet, Toni (Mike) Lovingshimer, Matthew Larson, Hayley Larson, and Nathan Erickson; and three great grandchildren: Kayleigh, Kelsey, and Cody DeLaet.    He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Karen, one brother, George, and one son, Douglas.

He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad  for forty years, retiring in 1994 while the Assistant Superintendent of Willis Yards.  He attended and graduated from Denver University. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Illinois. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Laurel Greens.

A fellowship will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home Fellowship Center in Knoxville, Illinois.  Inurnment will be held at the Knoxville Cemetery, Knoxville, Illinois at a later date. In-lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, Illinois.
