Weather conditions, while not warm, have improved today and should allow some of the area baseball and softball games to be be played. The schedule shows Knox College will be at Augustana for a non-conference game this afternoon, while here in Galesburg, Carl Sandburg will host Blackhawk.

In high school action, ROWVA hosts Galva/Williamsfield; Monmouth-Roseville visits Macomb; United hosts Mercer County; and Ridgewood is at home to West Prairie.

In softball, Abingdon-Avon welcomes South Fulton.

It didn’t take long for Western Illinois University to select a new men’s head basketball coach. Billy Wright was introduced today in Macomb as the successor to outgoing coach Jim Molinari, who resigned last Thursday to take an assistant’s position at the University of Nebraska. Wright has a long history with Molinari, as he played for him at Bradley University in Peoria, and then was an assistant at WIU for 5 years, before spending last year at Ball State in Indiana. Wright will inherit a Leatherneck team that finished with a record of 10-and-20 this past season.
