PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Peoria transportation officials have approved Sunday bus service starting in June.
The Journal Star reports that the Greater Peoria Mass Transit District unanimously made the decision on Monday. Officials say the routes will be the first Sunday bus service since the transit district was established in 1970.
Ten buses will run nine routes starting at 8:15 a.m. Sundays. The last buses will leave the Downtown Transit Center at 7:30 p.m. That leaves five routes not in operation on Sundays.
Officials estimate the cost of the Sunday bus service at about $1.6 million a year.
