It’s Wednesday, and that means there’s a light schedule of area ballgames to be played here at midweek. In baseball, Knoxville travels to United and North Fulton is at Rushville. In softball, Galesburg plays at Knoxville; Monmouth-Roseville travels to Ridgewood; and North Fulton hosts Brimfield/Elmwood.
In college baseball, Monmouth will play at Robert Morris. The Knox Prairie Fire have fallen under the .500-mark with yesterday’s 9-2 loss at Augustana. Knox is now 11-12 for the season.
Word has it that the baseball and softball facilities at Galesburg High School will be unplayable for the entire spring season. District Superintendent Bart Arthur says that due to the combination of ongoing construction and poor weather conditions, the Silver Streaks teams will have to play at alternate sites through the end of the school year.
The moratorium on play at Sundburg Field could even extend into the summer months, which would require American Legion baseball games to be played at alternate sites as well.
