Work to complete construction on a new bridge on County Line Road in Galesburg will help improve traffic flow over Cedar Creek according to a press release. The new bridge is being paid for with monies from Governor Pat Quinn’s “Illinois Jobs Now!” program.
Costs to complete the bridge will run the program about 423-thousand dollars – a fraction of the total 31-billion dollar project. Brandt Construction out of Milan was awarded the contract after being described as the lowest of six bidders.
As with past projects, the Governor’s office says that the Illinois Department of Transportation will oversee the progress.
In keeping with the “Illinois Jobs Now!” program’s goal to create more than 400-thousand jobs, Governor Pat Quinn says a new bridge will “employ a number of construction workers.”
There has been no word on when bridge construction will get underway or a timeframe for completion.
