Holloway, Richard T.

Richard T. “Dick” Holloway, 72, of Rural Alexis, died 11:15 P.M. Monday, April 14, 2014 at his home.

He was born January 4, 1942, at Keithsburg, IL, the son of Thomas and Eva (Strickler) Holloway. He was raised and educated in Keithsburg and graduated from Westmer High School in 1961.

Dick served in the National Guard for 6 years.

Dick married Juanita Miller on February 16, 1980 in Galva, IL and she survives.

He worked at Farmall in Rock Island for 22 years and transferred to Navistar International in Springfield, Ohio in 1985 and retired from there in 1993. He then worked part-time for Richard and Gary Simpson hauling grain. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.

He was a member of NRA and the former High Point Gun Club.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Juanita of Alexis, children, Linn (Kristi) French of Alexis, Lisa Smith of Springfield, Ohio, Lana Shuh of Colchester, IL, Lyle Smith of Springfield, IL and Cynthia and Patricia Holloway, grandchildren, Dustin, Connor and Abbey French, Sami and Mikayla Travis and Tylor, Cale and Noah Smith. great grandchildren, Addison, Ella and Eva and one brother William (Bugs) Holloway of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Holloway.

Cremation has been accorded and a memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 17, 2014 at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis. Burial of ashes will be in Alexis Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Alexis where visitation with his family will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.
