Knox College is very excited and thankful for gift from two Alumni that will help build a new academic building.
The college has announced Dick and Joan Whitcomb have given Knox a 5-million dollar gift to help with the construction of the new Art Building.
Knox College Associate Vice President for Major Gifts Mark Wilson tells WGIL the idea for a new Art building has been in the works for some time.
“Well we’ve been working on a series of initiatives you know moving forward and it was certainly one of our priorities.”
According to a press release the new facility will offer Knox faculty and students state-of-the-art spaces to study, create and exhibit their work.
Wilson says the college has an idea of where they’d like to put the new building, but says that information will come later.
He says they’re looking to start construction in the early spring of 2015 with the building ready for the fall of 2016
Knox College President Teresa Amott says in a press release quote “The Facility will meet the needs of students and faculty for a beautiful, technologically innovated learning and working environment.”
The gift provided to the school by the Whitcombs is the largest gift from living donors Knox has ever received in it’s 177 year history.
