WGIL Newsroom . State News 209

CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago Police are investigating a series of weekend shootings that left at least eight people dead and 44 injured — including five children who were hurt Sunday evening when someone opened fire from a vehicle as they played outside.

The two were found shot to death inside a South Side apartment Saturday. And a Chicago Police officer and her husband, a Cook County Sherriff’s correctional officer, were found shot to death in what appeared to be a murder-suicide.

The shootings came after multiple were people were killed and more than two dozen were wounded during the previous weekend.
