19-year-old Brandon Kenney pleaded guilty to three counts of Residential Burglary during a hearing this morning in Knox County Circuit Court. As a results, prosecutors dropped over a dozen other felony and misdemeanor charges of Burglary and Theft.
Kenney, 19-year-old Jamar Whiteside-Banks, and 18-year-old Adrian Bailey were arrested in early 2013, after dozens of burglaries were reported in the Altona area, as well as in Mercer and Henry Counties. In the charges Kenney pleaded guilty to, he stole several televisions, cash, and other items.
Kenney is being sentenced to a total of four-and-a-half years in prison on the charges with credit for 163 days served in jail, which may or may not be allowed to be served concurrently with any charges he may plead guilty to in the other counties.
In Knox County, Banks is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing May fifth on the Burglary and Theft charges he faces, while Bailey pleaded guilty in February to a single burglary count, and was sentenced last week to three years in prison with credit for 293 days in the Knox County Jail.
Kenney is charged with murder for the late-December shooting death of 15-year-old Javon Butler, and is scheduled to return to court in that case June second.
