New Superintendent Named in ROWVA School District

WGIL Newsroom . Local News 209

After seven years as head of the ROWVA School District Superintendent Lloyd Little is retiring at the end of the school year.

That meant the school board needed to start the search for Little’s replacement. On July first district 208 will welcome Joe Sorberger as their new Superintendent and a new member of the ROWVA family.

Sornberger tells WGIL for him making the move to ROWVA is like coming home.

“I have several family members that live in the ROWVA school district,” says Sornberger. “My grandfather and grandmother both live in Victoria, my grandfather was on the board for 16 years. My father, Bob, and my aunts and uncle all graduated from ROWVA so it’s a place that I’ve been visiting since I was a kid and had a great appreciation for it.”

Sornberger is currently the Superintendent for the Palestine Community Unit School District.

He’s been Superintendent for the past two years, prior to that he was a junior high school social studies teacher.
