The atmosphere around the Knox College Campus been a bit different than usual.
Today when many were at work, students on the Knox campus were acting irresponsible, skipping classes and making all sorts of noise and ruckus.
But Knox staff and faculty didn’t seem to mind, in fact many joined in–helping celebrate this year’s Wild Wild West Flunk Day.
Flunk day is the annual tradition where students get an unplanned day off to just have fun and junior flunk day organizer Wiktoria Gocik tells WGIL planning flunk day was something she considers a right of passage.
“When I was touring, no one ever mentioned flunk day and then I joined union board and I found out that they do it, and freshman year, I decided I was going to be a planner and then I just set my mind to it,” says Gocik.
Gocik says she really likes the idea behind Flunk day–a day to just blow off steam and have fun.
She says students work so hard all year they deserve to have one day of just unadulterated fun and no studies.
The highlight of the day for most was the mini-toilet bowl races.
