Larson, Ric

Ric Larson, 59, of Knoxville, died at 7:25 p.m., Monday, April 28, 2014 at home.

Ric was born December 10, 1953 in Galesburg, the son of Harold M. and Betty E. (Jordan) Larson.  He married Alice Stephens on May 31, 1997 in Monmouth.  Ric is survived by his wife, Alice of Knoxville; two sons,  Zach (Amy) Larson of Moline and Jake of Chicago; one brother, Tom (Sherí) Larson of Galesburg; and one sister, Sandi Olson of Glendale, AZ.  He is also survived by his two beloved grandchildren, Benjamin and Aubrey.

Ric received his BA in Fine Arts from Eastern Illinois University.  Ric went on to enjoy a passion and career as a self employed sculptor.  Ric was also proud to have been a student of Jimmy Crown at Galesburg High School.  One of Ric’s proudest moments was being commissioned to create the Mother Goose sculpture that sits in the courtyard of the Galesburg Public Library, as well as many other installations around the country.   Ric also worked at Bridgeway in Galesburg for 10 years.  Aside from his work, Ric enjoyed photography, bicycling, and most of all being with his family, especially his grandchildren.  Ric had been using his photography skills to adoption photos of the animals at the Knox County Humane Society.

Cremation rites will be accorded.  A celebration of Ric’s life will be held at a later date.  Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Watson-Thomas Funeral Home and Crematory, Galesburg.  Memorials may be made in Ric’s memory to the Knox County Humane Society.
