The Knox Prairie Fire and the Monmouth Fighting Scots will finish their baseball seasons this weekend with a pair of doubleheaders. Monmouth will host Knox tomorrow beginning at 11am, with the teams traveling back to Galesburg for a twinbill on Sunday at Blodgett Field. Neither team is in position to earn a Midwest Conference playoff bid this year.
The 41st annual Western Illinois Special Olympics competition will take place Saturday at Sunnylane Athletic Field in Monmouth. Approximately 300 athletes are expected to compete, with opening ceremonies to begin at 10am. Participants from seven counties including Fulton, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, Mercer, Rock Island, and Warren will be going for the gold. Those who win will advance to the Special Olympics Illinois State Summer Games to be held June 13-15 on the campuses of Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan University.
Streaks Golf Outing
The annual Silver Streaks golf outing will be held next Saturday, May 10th, at Bunker Links Golf Course in Galesburg. Golfing begins at 1pm in a scramble format, and dinner will follow. Entry forms are available at Bunker Links, and questions can be directed to basketball coach Mike Reynolds at Galesburg High School.
