The Galesburg High School sports calendar for today shows the Silver Streaks varsity and J.V. teams are in Geneseo to play the Maple Leafs. The Streaks girls are trying to rebound from a pair of beatings on Saturday, when Alleman scored 16 runs in both ends of a doubleheader rout. Also on the GHS schedule, the sophomore boys baseball team is in Peoria to play Richwoods.

In other area baseball games, ROWVA travels to Bushnell and Galva/Williamsfield goes to Delavan. In softball, the Knoxville girls will play at Bushnell-Prairie City, while in track and field, the Blue Bullets will run at the Monmouth-Roseville Titan Relays.

The Blue Bullets volleyball program may have a shake-up after tonight’s school board meeting. There is a proposal on the agenda to fire current coach Stacey Kavanaugh, whose team had a successful season last fall, but lost in its regional championship match to Abingdon/Avon.

College baseball
The Knox and Monmouth College baseball teams wrapped up their seasons over the weekend, splitting a pair of doubleheaders. Yesterday, the Fighting Scots defeated the Prairie Fire 7-to-3 in their opener at Blodgett Field in Galesburg, while Knox took the second game 5-3, behind the pitching of Peter Marquardt. Knox ended the season with a mark of 15-19, while Monmouth finished at 16-18.
